TOUR ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive Trivandrum

Arrival at Trivandrum airport, meeting and assistance at airport followed by transfer to hotel in Kovalam. Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches. The southernmost, known as the Lighthouse Beach, is the most popular. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 02: Kovalam

Morning proceed for half day city tour of Trivandrum. Visit Padmanabha Swam Temple & Napier Museum- This is a 19th century monument comprises a collection which is quite rare and unique. Evening at leisure.

Day 03: Trivandrum-Kanyakumari-Trivandrum

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning proceed for full day excursion to Kanyakumari. Kanyakumari jutting into the confluence of three mighty oceans, the Bay of Bengal, The Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. Romantics come here to witness setting sun and rising moon simultaneously. Enroute visit Padmanabhpuram Palace, the magnificient wooden palace constructed by the Travancore Maharajas and Sucheendram Temple. Kanyakumari represents the site where the spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda spent days in meditation upon a rock off of the coast. A memorial built in his honor is accessible via ferry.

Day 04: Kovalam- Alleppey (159 Kms / Approx 04 Hours drive) : Breakfast at hotel

Morning depart for Alleppey by surface Arrive at Alleppey and transfer to house boat for overnight stay. Travel to the enchanting backwater destination, A Houseboat or a Kettuvallam is the olden day rice boat converted into luxurious cruising villa with all modern comforts. Enjoy a cruise along the backwaters of Vembanad Lake. Traditional Kerala food will be served on board.

Day 05: Alleppey - Cochin (53 Kms / Approx 1 ½ Hour drive)

Breakfast on board Houseboat Sailing upto Jetty, disembark from Boat and drive for Cochin by surface. Afternoon check in and rest at hotel. Evening enjoy Kathakali show.

Day 06: Cochin

Early Morning after breakfast. Full Day City Tour of Cochin. The Dutch Palace - at Mattancherry was actually built by the Portuguese and presented to the Cochin Raja in AD 1555. Fort Kochi - Founded in 1503, this Portuguese fort is now in ruins. One can see many remains of Indo-European architecture that still exist here. Chinese fishing nets- One of the fascinating sights on the Kochi shoreline the huge cantilevered Chinese fishing nets, which were brought here by traders from the court of Kublai Khan. Jewish Synagogue - At the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town lays the synagogue of the white Jews near Mattancherry palace. The synagogue is now a fascinating mixture of shops, warehouses and spice auction rooms.

Day 07: Cochin - Munnar (127 Km / Approx 3 Hrs drive)

Day 08: Munnar

One of the most popular hill stations in South India is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. Located at 1600 m above sea level, this was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Day 09: Munnar-Thekkday (160 Km - 4 Hrs) : Breakfast at hotel

In the morning, after breakfast, drive to Periyar - along the tranquil countryside, rich spice plantations and mist capped mountains - one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in India. Sprawling across 777 sq. Kms of luxuriant green, rain drenched tropical forests; this tiger reserve renders a chance to spot exotic wildlife in its natural habitat. The sanctuary is centered around a large artificial lake, formed by the dam across the Periyar River. On arrival check into your hotel. Situated on the banks of river Vaigai, Madurai has a rich cultural heritage passed on from the great Tamil era more than 2500 years old. Day 11: Madurai- Trichy (145 Km 4 Hrs)

Morning proceed for Trichy by surface Tiruchirappalli actually means "city of the three-headed demon". Situated on the banks of river Kaveri Tiruchirapalli also known for short as Trichy is the fourth largest city in the state. The city evokes the glory of a bygone era. Evening visit Srirangam Temple, Rock Fort Temple. The first thing that comes to a person's mind, when you mention the word Tiruchi is Rock Fort. The fort has almost become synonymous with the place. This is Tiruchy's most famous landmark situated on an 83 m high rock The most amazing fact about the rock is that it is one of the oldest in the world - approximately 3,800 million years, which makes it as old as the rocks of Greenland and older than the Himalayas.

Day 12 :Trichy/ Chidambaram/Pondicherry

Morning leave for Pondicherry by surface. On the way visit Chidambaram (200 Km 5 Hrs) also called “City of Cosmic Dancers” and is City of Art Philosophy and religion. Chidambaram is one of the most ancient and most celebrated of shrines in India. It is of great religious as well as historic and cultural significance. Chidambaram is associated with Nataraja, or Shiva in his Ananda Tandava pose (the Cosmic Dance of bliss) in the cosmic golden hall and the hall of consciousness (Chit Sabha). Arrive at Pondicherry and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure

Day 13 : Pondicherry/Mahabalipuram

Mahabalipuram lies on the Coromandel Coast which faces the Bay of Bengal. Mahabalipuram is located close to Chennai (Madras) on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, along the Indian eastern coast. Known for its rocks carvings and monolithic sculptures it has the famous shore temple, the only one to have survived the ravages of nature. Also known as the Seven Pagodas (temples), six now lie submerged in the sea. Mahabalipuram temples whose architecture was inspired by the Pallava Art were built during the period 830 - 1100 AD.
Mahabalipuram contains nearly forty monuments of different types including an "open air bas relief" which is the largest in the world. For centuries it has been a centre of pilgrimage, and even today it attracts devotees and foreigners in large numbers

Early morning transfer to Chennai Railway station to board train for Mysore at 0600 Hrs. Afternoon drive to ooty by surface. Situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level Ooty also known as Udhagamandalam. The place "Queen of hill stations" and the capital of Nilgiris district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means "Blue Mountains". It is a land of picturesque picnic spots. Used to be popular summer and weekend getaway for the Britishers during the colonial days. Evening free to explore area around.

Day 18: Ooty

After breakfast Full day City tour of Ooty. Visit Rose Garden a must visit site for all nature lovers. The garden is at an elevation of around 2200-m above sea level & has five terraces that have more than 2800 varieties of roses. Ooty Lake This artificial lake was built in the year 1825 by Mr. John Sullivan, the then district collector. The lake, around 2.5-km in length and 40 feet deep, offers options for both boating and fishing. Doddabetta Peak The Peak is situated some 10 km from Ooty. It is at a height of 2623 m and is famous as the highest peak in Nilgiris. It offers few of the most breathtaking views of the Nilgiri peaks that have made it one of the most visited spots in Ooty.

Bull Temple: Built for Nandi, the sacred Bull, the vehicle of Lord Shiva, this temple has a 4.6 meter tall-carved statue of the sacred bull. Tipu's Palace the Palace was constructed first by Hyder Ali and completed by his son Tipp Sultan in the year 1791.
